Before you start: what this quiz can and cannot tell you

Scripture gives lists of gifts. It gives no test for finding which are yours. It says the Spirit gives them “to each one as He determines” (1 Corinthians 12:11), and that each is given “for the profit of all” (1 Corinthians 12:7). So this is a conversation starter, not a verdict: fifty-one statements cannot see your last ten years, and the people who have watched you serve can. If you know the lists you will sometimes see which gift a statement is about, and with a few, such as healing and miracles, there is no honest way to ask without showing it. That is one more reason to take the result to your pastor or priest and to one or two people who have served alongside you, and ask them whether it is true. Catholic readers usually call the gifts in these lists charisms, and keep “the gifts of the Holy Spirit” for the seven that Catholic teaching draws from Isaiah 11:2; this page is about the first.
